Carisoprodol, selling under the brand name soma is a medication useful for treating musculoskeletal pain. Use is only approved for people with short-term pain conditions for up to three weeks. The effects of soma generally begin within half an hour and last for up to four to six hours. It is an oral medicine, and people can buy soma 350 mg online in the form of conventional oral tablets.
Carisoprodol, the active ingredient of soma, was approved for medicinal use in the United States in the year 1959. Europe withdrew its approval in 2008. Soma is available as a generic medication also. In the United States, the average wholesale cost of the drug is less than US$0.10 per dose of soma. In 2016, soma was the 181st most prescribed medicine in the United States, with over 3 million prescriptions that year. Soma is a Schedule IV controlled substance in the country under the Controlled Substance Act by Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
What are the effects of soma overdose?
Soma overdose does not occur by taking the medication alone. It is often due to the co-administration of soma with GABAergic drugs such as sedative or alcohol. The combination posses a significant risk to the abuser in the form of soma overdose. People should be aware that taking soma with alcohol causes adverse reactions such as severe ataxia, excessive sedation, unresponsiveness to stimuli, confusion, amnesia, intoxication, agitation, and potentially violent behavior. Abusers can easily buy soma online without a prescription. Still, it is not recommended to do so due to the risks of respiratory depression, pulmonary aspiration, coma, and death associated with overdose.
