What is Telecommuting?

Remote work, or telework, is an arrangement where employees do not commute to a central place of work. A person who telecommutes is known as a "telecommuter," "teleworker," and sometimes as a "home-sourced" or "work-at-home" employee. Many telecommuters work from home, while others, sometimes called "nomad workers," use mobile telecommunications technology to work from coffee shops or other locations. A work from home or work at home arrangement involves working from home. It differs from the teleworking/telecommuting arrangement in that it does not require that the employee stay electronically connected to the work location during business hours.

Working at home is a popular choice for many people with a disability. It can be much simpler to work something flexible at home than to deal with whatever limitations your disability may cause at an office or other place of work.

• The need to be computer-literate, well versed in English (depending on your location)
• The ability to self-discipline to regular working hours without distractions.
